happiness fills me to the brim
when i breathe in a moment
catching feeling like video, play paused
be it joy, tranquility, silliness, excitement
holding awareness to my good fortune
relishing the source – spontaneous or deliberate
building stores for dark rainy days

It’s the last Six Word Friday of 2010, with more wordy goodness coming in 2011! Check out some other Six Word Friday creations at Making Things Up.
I remember a moment in the movie American Beauty that made me cry. The protagonist narrator says that sometimes there is such beauty that we want to hold it tight, like you say put the pause button on. But then we remember that we don’t have to cling obsessively, but just let it flow and wash over us because it will always be there. I love your poem.
@Molly…agreed!
I remember that part of American Beauty too. You always have a great perspective to share each Six Word Friday. Thanks Molly! 🙂
Loved the post. There’s something strikingly interesting about your post and the use of the snowflake background…I want to say the snowflakes set the background to what you wrote. Almost reminiscent of sitting a window as the first evening snow sets and scribing your most innermost thoughts!
Happy Holidays to you and yours. Hopefully you’ve stop to count the snowflakes and are enjoying the holiday season – cookies, family and all!
Thanks Keia. I have indeed stopped to count the snowflakes but you know…it was really hard to do! I’m glad I took it a little easier instead of rushing through the holiday going here, doing that, etc. Best wishes to you for a happy holiday and new year! 🙂
I like the idea of building stores of happiness for later, darker days. Nice image.
Because sometimes you have to, and it’s nice to know you will have these happy memories to keep the dark at bay.
I picture happiness bricks built up into a hearth that you can warm yourself by during the cold of winter.
Oh I like that image a lot!
I love “catching feeling like video, play paused.” What a way to
describe a moment!
Thanks – sometimes I want to pause the moment – to relish it a bit longer. 🙂
I agree with Julianna, I’ll have to remember this image over the holidays when joy and happiness come so spontaneously….I’ll store it up!
Yes, I will be doing the same. 🙂
Paused–and hopefully kept, on repeat.
Ha! Wish I’d thought of that – yes, definitely on repeat! 🙂

Building stores for dark rainy days
Mel, I love it!!!
Thanks Ayala – that means a lot. 🙂
I too will be relishing awareness of every wonderful moment.
See you in 2011 🙂
